Our unique niche is at the intersection of the business and nonprofit communities. Our Members are experts in their fields, working on issues critical to NC’s health, economy, and quality of life, including clean air and drinking water, healthy rivers and streams, access to places for recreation, wildlife protection, local farms and food, solutions to climate change, and preservation of all the natural resources that make NC special.

WORKING AT EARTHSHARE NC
EarthShare NC is all about relationships. We are a coalition of twenty-five NC-based nonprofits, fifteen Board Members and a network of corporate and community relationships coordinated by a small, mission-driven staff. Day-to-day work at EarthShare NC requires the ability to focus on individual projects as well as support team efforts to complete larger projects. We have clear lines of responsibility while also working in a very integrated and dynamic style, leveraging the collective experiences and expertise of all our staff members to continuously make the organization a stronger force for a thriving environment.

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Digital Media & Program Assistant is an internship position working ~10 hours a week beginning in mid-January 2025. The position will help create a cohesive message and style across our digital media platforms and assist with the Earth Day Events Program. The intern will be responsible for designing graphics and newsletters; building webpages and updating the professional website; and coordinating social media posts and tracking engagement. This position will be performed remotely with meetings and messaging held through Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities

Social Media (30%)
o Brainstorm and create posts for social media use
o Manage social media accounts
o Track and analyze engagement metrics to determine posting strategy

Graphics and Design (30%)
o Create program materials, including promotional materials and reports
o Design graphics for digital media outlets
o Prepare layout, source and write content, and send newsletters
o Design additional digital content as needed

Website (20%)
o Implement design changes and follow yearly website plan to keep all content updated for the EarthShare NC website
o Support backend functionality changes/updates
o Track analytics and contribute to strategic discussions to build engagement

Program Support (20%)
o Create and format website pages to support program development.
o Support with program outreach, research, and communications.

Qualifications

Must haves:
• Demonstrated ability to create professional and engaging graphics for various digital platforms
• Great attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to report progress and meet deadlines.
• Skilled with Canva
• Proficient with WordPress
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and incorporation of these ideals into work
• An appreciation for the value of environmental nonprofit organizations to promote the health of our environment and people.

Preferred but not required:
• Experience working in a remote setting
• Knowledgeable about environmental sustainability and climate change issues/solutions
• Competent with Microsoft 365 and associated apps

Salary/Benefits

$10/hr
